Dont Go

Don’t go its one of the worst venues I have ever been in my life for salsa having been dancing for over 10 years I’ve been to many all over the world.Dont waste your money or time, they keep trying to say its fine to dance on carpet you can’t, the PA is the worst I have ever known and as for AIr con its is a con, I don’t see what the point in making the event sound anything better than it is. Its an insult to those who do run good event and there are plenty of other places in the uk to dance and this is not one.
PLEASE GO ELSE WHERE, I DONT RUN ANY SALSA EVENTS BUT I DO WORK ON MANY EVENT AND KNOW WHAT MAKES A GOOD ONE AND THIS WILL BE THE WORST NIGHT YOU EVER HAD DANCING DONT GO.
If you want to waste your time and go I went to the last event there and left very swiftly it was an embarrassment to even consider that they made the claims they have

Hi ‘Dont Go’,

Thank you for your comments, we do apologise that you did not enjoy the last party at Grosvenor Casino, and you are entitled to your opinion of course.

Please remember tho...

The party night has not come from us! We don’t hold parties just for the sake of it. There has to be a DEMAND for them. And the reason for another party at the Casino is the DEMAND! The demand for ANOTHER party at the casino is twofold...

Firstly... the casino staff and management themselves heard the feedback from the majority of the people in attendance at the last Grosvenor Casino party, we were also told that the reception staff reported back to the management the majority comments about the party when people were leaving the venue in the very early hours of the morning after having had a great night, these were comments such as ‘fantastic party’ 'great night’ and the most common one ‘whens the next party at the CASINO’. As a result of this within a few days the Casino management approached US and asked for another party and asked US to give them a date for the next party.

Secondly, we agreed to hold another party at the Casino because of the feedback from the party night that we had directly. We had people approaching and asking US directly after enjoying the party night so much, they were immediately asking when the next one at the Casino will be.

Like I said we don’t hold parties for the sake of it, we respond to the DEMAND!

This is all despite the ‘carpet’. As you can see from the pictures everyone danced fine on the carpet (which is why we also included a video clip so people could see for themselves) and which is why a lot of those pictures you see taken are taken after 2:00am in the morning with a place still full of smiling people, happy faces enjoying a great party night till 4.30am and still spinning happily and merrily on a ‘carpet’ which we have had described to us as absolutely fine to dance and spin on (just take a look at the video clip!) and much much better than dancing on ‘poor wooden floors and sticky beer stained wooden floor and laminates’. As they say... ‘pictures speak a thousand words’, and ‘the camera doesnt lie’! The links to the pictures from the last party night at the Casino are all up there for people to see for themselves!

We’ll have even more space and we are using a brand new PA system with a new super power amplifier and speakers up to my waist and twice as wide as me with more than enough power from the amp and speakers to rock the joint from Cardiff Bay to Penarth Marina!

As the old saying goes, ‘you can’t please all of the people all of the time’ but as you can see from the pictures, as you can see from the demand for another party at the Casino we do a pretty good job of ‘pleasing most of the people most of the time’!

New Mover

Any chance we could see who is attending the party on the invite page please? I would find this helpful, being a newcomer to salsa,
Many thanks

Kylie

I have heard about blowing one’s own trumpet - but this is now getting ridiculous. Advertise events by all means - but enough is enough.

My my... who would have thought that just holding a salsa party would create such a reaction?? We must be doing something RIGHT! You know what they say, all publicity is good publicity!!!

New Mover... that’s a strange request from someone new to salsa... I’d expect that question from regular students and hardened salsera or salseros but someone completely new?? I have had that question from our own students as well, and when asked I say ‘well why do you want to know?’ and when they answer I say well that’s exactly the reason we don’t publish the list! We never have, stretching all the way back to the very first party teaching with Leann at Culto. As well as the links to the pictures above from our recent parties, our photos page on our website www.salsabuena.co.uk has the photos from all our parties previous to that. And as you can see it hasn’t done us or the people that attend any harm! Our very last party night at Las Havanas you could barely move for so many people in our classes!!!

Kylie... ‘but this is now getting ridiculous’? To be fair I think its your statement that is a little over the top. We are having a party... we are promoting it... we have MORE space, we have a BIGGER amp and SPEAKERS, we are HOLDING it due to DEMAND and yes we DO have more people confirmed as attending than previously! Don’t see why its a problem for you that I am stating the FACTS. May I suggest the simplest solution for you (and I mean this in the nicest possible way) is not to read our posts. That way you can relax and not get so worked up that there’s a great salsa party night happening! :-))).

In all seriousness, to those that have been emailing me with messages of support, I thank you, (especially those that weren’t sure they could make it to the party and saying they definitely will make arrangements to come now to show their support after the posts on here) and to those that have pointed out that everyone reading these posts is intelligent enough to see for themselves that its obvious that most if not all of these posts are nothing but a case of ‘sour grapes’, I do realise that is a possibility. But I do need to give the benefit of the doubt and answer fairly. I would hate to offend anyone that has genuinely posted on here with a criticism.

Can I suggest (not that it would make a blind bit of difference! Lol) that anyone posting on here follow up their message with a message to me on facebook so that we know the points are genuine from genuine people.

I saw the movie tag line for ‘The Social Network’ in the cinema recently, the one about how facebook was created, and it says ‘You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies’

We might not have 500 million friends lol... but lets just say I totally understand where that statement is coming from! :-))).

We look forward to seeing you all at another great Salsa Buena party... whilst on here I just had yet another email come thru from even more people that are coming to the party looking forward to a great salsa party night and great classes in fancy dress. Thank you Carla and Co!!! :-))))

Dont Go!!

DONT GO, I stand buy all I have said...

I don’t have a problem with facts, and I am pleased that your responding to my comments, I hope that the PA that you have provides a good sound quality and is run in a competent manner.
I still by my comments, if you some who wants a good evening of Salsa dancing this is not the best venue for it.
Its not sour grapes I am dance user and happily pay for a good night out but as a professional event manager with over 30 years for knowledge of running an event then I do feel that I am able to make comment critically on the event as I felt it was poor, and could be improved.
I do wonder if there are public liability insurances in place from you and full risk assessments and method statements as to you event planning and operations.
As to respond to your DUTY OF CARE to those attending this should be in place, you are hold and event and this should be in place.
I wish you well and hope nothing goes wrong

Hi Don’t Go,

That’s fair enough. But you do have to understand that sometimes the tone of a post can make things look otherwise. You first post was rather caustic as well as your use of the ID ‘Dont Go’. Also the comments in your initial post did not reflect all of the reality of the party night as shown in the pictures of the event, us going on till 4.30am and the feedback we had and the demand for another party. To the point that we do now have more people attending than last time. That aside your recent post above is totally fair comment.

We do have a superb brand new PA system with a LOT of power and very large speakers.

Myself and Leann have full public liability insurance to the tune of 2 million pounds. (and we pay our taxes!!!).

The venue themselves are of course also insured and have a duty to ensure our set up meets the ‘duty of care’, as well as ensuring this ourselves.

All the electrical equipment we use we have had PAT tested (including the new equipment) and PASSED. It has the stickers on them!

The Casino is part of a huge nationwide chain that have to meet all legal safety requirements regarding fire exits etc etc. Red Dragon Centre also insists all their tenants meet all legal safety requirements and are routinely inspected and passed.

As you can see we are probably one of the very very FEW that go ABOVE and BEYOND what is required. I hope in your endeavour to be ‘firm but fair’ that you will point out ALL the other events of which there may well be many where unlike our events they are held in venues that don’t have this duty of care and legal safety requirements in place, where no such insurance even public liability from the teachers is in place, and no PAT testing of electrical equipment.

You and I both know there are many events run out there that are like this. I look forward to reading your posts about these parties otherwise it may look like you are biased for some reason?? (Perish the thought! ;-))...

Also it would help if you remain consistent. Your first post had absolutely no mention of insurance and duty of care but instead went on about carpet and the sound system. It does look like that when your points were addressed that you have now decided to go down the insurance and duty of care route. Clutching at straws perhaps??

None of this helps your case of ‘being genuine, impartial and not 'sour grapes’ etc. Feel free to send me a facebook message so that we can be sure of your authenticity and intent. (I won’t hold my breath! ;-)).

Kylie

I stick by what I SAID re the WW posts - but I’ll take his advice, save myself a lot of time and ignore them. Bye.
