Message 11 · 25 Feb 2010 02:14 GMT Yes, I saw it, it was Miseal and another guy, punches were thrown, wouldn’t like to say in which direction but it seemed like both directions to be honest. However lots of people dived in to pull the two of them apart apart very quickly - it didn’t last very long. I really hate fights at the best of times, let alone at a Salsa party. So I was very disappointed. And as for blaming/defending anyone - surely that’s irrelevant - a fight is a fight - inevitably involving both parties antagonising each other, with neither party totally blameless nor totally to blame. I have always thought that Salsa people are above this kind of behaviour. So to repeat, I was very disappointed and pretty annoyed. It must be made clear that this kind of behaviour, no matter who it is doing it, isn’t tolerated at Salsa nights. Hope it doesn’t happen again. |

Message 12 · 25 Feb 2010 10:38 GMT Who was the ‘salsa teacher from outside Wales’? As Misael has been named it seems only fair to name the other individual. |

Message 13 · 25 Feb 2010 13:59 GMT The other Salsa teacher there was Yanet Torres but she wasn’t involved in the fight of course, the fight was with one of the dancers but not seen him before. |

Message 14 · 25 Feb 2010 18:56 GMT Nina’s comment said that the dancer in the fight was ‘another teacher from outside Wales’, so I assumed she must know who it was. |

Message 15 · 26 Feb 2010 13:18 GMT Fights are not always the fault of both parties nor are they always avoidable. There seems to be very little information about this incident available so lets be a little less judgmental as even baseless gossip can seriously damage reputations. For the record I had a fantastic night - Yanet is amazing! |

Message 16 · 26 Feb 2010 13:34 GMT Yes, if somebody punches you the instinct is to hit back and it takes quite a bit of self-restraint and maturity not to do so. We expect salsa teachers to be able to teach (which Misael certainly can), not to be saints. |

Message 17 · 8 Mar 2010 20:49 GMT Ulices - the ‘trouble maker’ in question, had an ongoing hatred towards Misael, so I guess that what erupted was unavoidable as he clearly went there with the intention to make trouble from what we could see!! Misael was very good and did his best to diffuse the situation, take care of the girl that Ulices tried to attack and get back to his students... Things happen - not always the way you want and you have to deal with it the best you can... ROLL ON THE NEXT PARTY |
oh gogo!

Message 18 · 10 Mar 2010 01:50 GMT I haven’t liked to get involved up until now but I’m afraid gogo’s post is so obviously biased I feel I should put the record straight! Obviously gogo is a friend of Misael’s! I seem to have been the only one on this thread to have seen the incident. The other guy (Ulices?) tried to pull the girl who was dancing with Misael away from Misael. So Misael punched him. And the other guy (Ulices?) then went to punch him back. Then suddenly lots of guys got involved, pulling the two of them apart. The other guy left pretty quickly. I’m not blaming either Misael or the other guy as it always takes two. But I don’t like to see one side blamed by the “online massive” or by here-say. I saw it and believe me they are both equally to blame. |
