The Classes at 30mins are design to be Short & Punchy... Quality over Quantity! In other words you’ll get just a couple of moves that will be taught in depth so that you’ll have something you can remember and is instantly useable on the dance floor...
After that you’ll have 15mins with music and the teacher on hand to answer questions! It is a new concept and so far the feedback has been positive

Example from Eddie:

Very good night last week and I really liked the lesson. Quick, sharp and to the point. Really enjoyable.

Just uploaded to the website some new photos of our nights and a mixture of just some of the tunes played at our nights! Also, there is a link to a great Salsa Rhythm Machine that can help you understand Salsa Rhythm if you’re in any doubt!... You’ll find the link under the music player... It’s really good, you can isolate instruments, change tempo and even change key...

Footnote on the history of … Salsa-Mania (for people new to the scene)

1. In 1995, we were the first to run Salsa with Classes in a late night Club environment

2. In 1995, we were also the first to run Salsa Classes with a late night Club section in Cardiff and did so till around the year 2000

3. We were the first to introduce Merengue, Bachata & Reggaeton to the Salsa scene

4. For around 15 years we ran the busiest, most successful Salsa nightclub in the South West with between 200 and 300 Salsa aficionados regularly attending

5. Fiesta Havana Bristol (still referred to by many) was the home of Salsa-Mania for three years... We were the former promoters and the ultimate promoters! No one else has ever promoted Salsa in Fiesta Havana

6. Our DJ is one of the most experienced in the country and definitely the most experienced in the South West

7. Finally we are the destination where most Latinos head when looking for a Latin Party night out...

We took a break from promoting Salsa for a year but continued to promote other Latin nights

We are now back promoting VFM Salsa once again with a ground-breaking new concept for Salsa…
Tip Top Salsa - a free entry night where you’re encouraged to leave a fair tip...
Also a new concept for teaching with short, punchy but well designed classes to give you one or two moves that are easy to remember and can confidently be used immediately in the Club section that follows!

Salsa-Mania is now based in the Warehouse, 57 Prince Street, Bristol BS1 4QH - a 600 capacity venue over two floors, which last week attracted 123 people and that, after just four weeks!

With all of the above as our CV you can be sure you won’t be disappointed if you come along to enjoy the FUNkiest, SUNkissed Latin Party around

P.S. If you’re coming from Cardiff remember it’s a Free Entry (please leave a tip) policy; and so you decide what discount you get for the bridge and journey!!! You even get to decide (depending on whether or not you enjoy the experience) if you tip us or not!

Leon

The claim that the Warehouse has a capacity for 600 people is misleading to people who haven’t been there before, as they would probably expect it would be one of the larger salsa venues around.

From a safety point of view I think you’d be struggling to get anywhere near that number of people in the Warehouse, with room to dance as well?

Hey Leon, thank you for making this point! It gives me the oportunity to explain those figures... The fact is that the capacity of any venue has nothing to do with the comfortable area of dance space available and this is especially true for Salsa! Capacity is in fact given by the local Fire Authorities and is more to do with the number and size of Fire Escape exits...

When people like me give the capacity of a venue, it is generally accepted as simply a loose indication of the size of the venue... And the Warehouse is in fact one of the larger venues around for Salsa; remembering that we have all five levels of the Warehouse with two main dance floors available to expand into!

How many people can dance comfortably is of course subjective, but I thought from the above it was pretty clear that at best we will expect 200 - 300 people when full. We would most likely limit the numbers if and when we are lucky enough to reach that figure!

Our old venue Fiesta Havana Bristol for example had a capacity of 800 only when both floors were used... 400 per floor almost exactly, though we felt quite cramped if more than 150 people were dancing upstairs in the main Club!

I hope that clarifies things for you and that you might come along to what promises to be the busiest Salsa Club Night around!
