Something Different, Something Special!

This month we are going for something a little bit different and binging you a taste of two other HOT Latin dances.

We have hired top London dance company ‘Element Dance’ who will take Reggaeton and Samba lessons and later perform two shows, one in each of these dances.

Ella Peck is the director of ‘Element Dance’ and she is known as ‘Rainha Da Bateria’ which translates simply as ‘Queen of Samba’. Ella trained in Brazil and performed as a ‘Passista’ in the 2006 Rio Carnival. In 2008, Ella won 3rd place in the International championships which were held in Germany.

As well as specialising in Samba, ‘Element Dance’ also focus on Reggaeton from the Barrios of Cuba and Puerto Rico. In 2007, ‘Element Dance’ were crowned European champions at the UK Salsa congress.

Both the Samba lesson and the Reggaeton lesson are designed to give you a taste of other Latin dances whilst getting you in the mood to party the night away. So whether you are a complete Salsa beginner or an advanced Salsa dancer these lessons are aimed at you.

However, if you are a beginner Salsa dancer and can not wait to get a couple more lessons under your belt then we will be running two lessons simultaneously for you with Tim Heasman in the Somerdale Room. Tim’s classes are always fun but challenging and the standard of teaching will be pitched at the majority in the class without excluding anyone!

Unfortunately, there is only one ‘newbie’ lesson this month as all available instructors want to join in the Samba lesson, sorry!

If you want to learn the basic steps such as how to Mambo and Rumba or go over other basic techniques and moves this is the lesson for you. Depending on how you get on, you may wish to join Tim for his second lesson in the Somerdale Room.

Following Mikey’s success as a debut Latin DJ we have asked him to return and play the Somerdale room tonight. We have asked Mikey to play a number of lower BPM Salsa tracks in order that our many beginners can practice their moves and the improvers can perfect theirs. Mikey’s compilation will include R n B Salsa, Bachata and the odd Reggaeton track. Who knows he may even play some Samba!

Our favourite and resident DJ Tim will be playing the Carter room all night and keeping the dance floor packed right up until midnight!
