I know some people don’t agree but I think Stevie plays cracking music with lots of variety. If you don’t like the stuff he plays earlier on in Bar Risa - which is slow and gentle to encourage the beginners to stay and dance - you should try hanging around until later where you get some terrific stuff (or maybe it just suits my taste).

I’m not around on the 28th but I think it should be a good night (so long as the beginners stay out of the intermediate class... ) Lee was one of the few really good teachers at Pontin’s last year.

Thank you Tom for the words of support... As I said I do try to please all to a degree and I’m always ready to listen if anyone has suggestions about what to play!!

You also recognised the fact that I play for the Beginners / Improvers as a priority for the first half hour, whenever it’s a night with classes for all levels. Into that mix I also start with a theme of one sort or another for the whole hour, this lessens repetition, hence boredom... else how are we ever going to encourage Beg / Imp to stick around let alone dance?

Eventually I get around to playing ‘let’s call it’ hard core Salsa for want of a better term because personally I wouldn’t call it better or proper, these are terms that people tend to use when actually meaning - personal taste…

Whatever our personal taste as far as music goes Beg / Imp need something they can relate to, believe me I’ve tried all formulae down the years and the majority are comfortable with this particular one!!

Thanks again!
