No worries Tammi,
But consider this as I often find that the DJ is not mentioned in various promotions around the country for Salsa Events... The Dance Instructor always is!!! :-(
People who know me will know, that I have never claimed to be the best around and probably suffer (in business terms) from not pushing myself sufficiently in promotional terms... Ask Stellan!! He’s always bol*!-king me about that, to which I usually retort... I’m just not that way inclined, let’s just say I’m a little old fashioned...
But here’s the important thing to consider... At a Salsa Event if the Instructor turns out to be less than you’d expected for whatever reason - not that many are, they’re usually great - but if they should lack lustre on the night, then people can rely on the bank of moves etc they’ve already built into their repertoire, I’m sure you will agree! However if the DJ plays a chunk of crud(!), then no matter how many lessons you’ve had, with however many Instructors of great teaching ability, and however much style, technique and indeed moves you may be capable of exercising, the fact is you won’t enjoy dancing to a poor set of tunes.
Not giving you a hard time lovely girl, just using the oversight in order to make (what I consider to be) a valuable contribution to the forum about the job that a DJ does in Salsa… Unfortunately the written word doesn’t allow for intonation and the original post of mine was meant to be, at least a little light hearted … still it does raise an important point - at least for me!!
And I do agree with you … I’m sure it’s going to be a great night!!
