Salsa City Forum » Publicity & Promotion » Cancer Research UK Charity Event 30-31 August 2008

Simon Williams

I am organising a charity event at the Millennium Stadium on 30/31 August 2008, as part of a voluntary committee raising money on behalf of Cancer Research UK. We are looking to invite local dance acts to this community event, to entertain participants and spectators.

As such, we were wondering whether you would consider our invite and would like to come along on the 30th August. We would love to have you there to bring a bit of fun and flair to the event. Given that we are a community event, and our participants are from the local areas, it would be a great opportunity for yourselves to promote your classes there also.

The event is called Relay for Life, it is an inspirational community event designed to commemorate the lives of people touched by cancer and raise money for the vital work of Cancer Research UK. Teams made up of family, friends and colleagues take turns to walk around the track for 24 hours to reflect the fact that research into Cancer never stops. Participants camp out overnight and enjoy entertainment and friendship. The event is a lot of fun and most importantly raises money for the vital work of Cancer Research UK.

Throughout the day various activities will take place creating a wonderful carnival atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. One of the most memorable parts of Relay is the emotional Candle of Hope Ceremony. Candles that have been dedicated to loved ones are lit and burn long into the night spelling the words “HOPE” and “CURE”. The candle of Hope Ceremony is the only time that Relay stands still.

To find out more about this event, please have a look at our website: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/relay/
It would be wonderful if some of you were interested in attending and also we would be keen to know if you would wish to enter a team and ttake part in this rewarding event as well as putting on a performance/class in the evening to entertain participants and spectators. More details on how to register a team can be found on the above website, or via an email reply to myself.

We very much look forward to hearing from you in this regard and hope to have you at our event.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Williams
