This one is in Bristol and is not strictly Salsa - think Bar Cuba or if you remeber masYmas
(Fiesta Havana Bristol) which used to attract between 300 - 400 people you’ll understand the format

Dave

You should really get your main night in order first before going on to other nights. The floor in Joungleurs is still not up to how it was when you started there. The speakers on the main dance floor are positioned halfway along the dance floor so the sound only covers half the dance floor, go beyond that and there is inferior sound quality. A lot of people say Fiesta Havana was a better venue, this is true of atmosphere and sound system, the dance space in Joungleurs is a lot better though, so try and sort the floor out and sound system, you then might even get the atmosphere back.

Thanks for the advise and the insight into why our events have little atmosphere Dave

The suggestion is that I’m responsible for the Club... Not so!... It would be far easier if I were, let alone financialy more rewarding. However being a lowly promoter I have to be diplomatic as I don’t have the power to make the accountants who run these corporate venues pay for proper cleaning services or instruct the cleaners (when they are employed) how to clean, I can only request that they stop using floor sealer which, has been the cause of the recent problem (with extra grip) when doing so. I am aware that for some there is a problem and I have for the past two weeks, personally cleaned the floor myself before opening... although inappropriate footwear has been at least part of the problem... It is after-all a Nightclub i.e. Suede soled dance shoes or trainers are probably not the best choice of footwear

As for the sound system, again I cannot be responsible for where the speakers were placed when the Club was built… I can (as you would know from the response forms at the venue or on our website) bring my own sound system at much cost and effort to compliment the existing system, which incidentally I also had to do at Fiesta Havana… The venue is acoustically quite difficult but we are experimenting with the positioning of these speakers and balancing the sound at the moment and though I cannot say that it is perfect... yet, I am aware that the sound could be improved and I am on the case…

I think it is fair to say that very few of the 100s of people who come to our ‘SalsaMania Bristol’ nights have mentioned that there is a significant problem or that the night is especially lacking in atmosphere. In fact if you check our website and go to the Club/Classes Wed/Poll ratings page you’ll see that the scores that people have been giving us are consistently high in these categories. Most people - I’d say at least 90% - actually prefer Jongleurs to Fiesta Havana, not least the many more Latinos who now come to our nights since we made the move. Perhaps this is because they see Jongleurs as a real nightclub and not some British designer’s cheesy take on their Culture and what a Latin themed Night Club should look like…

Still - You are entitled to your view… Equally I’m entitled to open two exciting new Club Nights in two great new venues! Perhaps we’ll see you there?

Hi Steve,

I thought I’d mention that I thought the sound in Jongleurs (Bristol) at Salsamania was much improved last night - sounding more balanced, at least where I was dancing (in several parts of the dance floor).
