Hi me! (hmm feels weird typing that... )

As first nights go it was great! Thanks to everyone that came and gave their support. The open front of the venue and the lovely weather and outside speakers meant that those that wanted to were also able to dance outside the front, much to the enjoyment of passers by and the bouncers on the club doors further down ( I was also grabbed by one of the lap dancers as she left the lap dancing club further down and we had a bachata... and I didn’t even have to pay for the dance! ;-) )

On that theme I know some of the guys that came were a bit distracted by, and the ladies were taken aback by, the videos they were playing on the video screens... which we were told on good authority were ladies Brazilian dancing... (Samba. Flamenco etc) all done in ‘traditional’ costume... which in reality played more like a soft porn video!!! The management have agreed that they won’t be playing that anymore... (they were a little embarrassed themselves... )

Talking of management... they loved the launch and like myself are looking forward to this continuing to build up into a major salsa night. Please keep coming and supporting, we have further plans for this night which will keep the salsa crowd very very happy... watch this space, and see you all there next Thursday for more!!!

PS, oh and after watching the classes we managed to convert the no 10 staff from saying ‘nah no way would I do a dance class got two left feet etc’ into ‘we want to do that!’. Some of them are going to book time off next Thursday especially so they can join in with the classes. Result! :-)

**Hi** Looking to get back into Salsa (I tried about 5 times last year but then moved cities). I did bar Cuba last year but am interested in how this new class is going? Is it beginner friendly and also what’s the boy:girl ratio like - I don’t have a partner and hate it when there’s not enough partners.

Hi Kiwi...

Our beginner classes are going very well and we get excellent feedback from our students... every new person that has come along to our class has returned regularly! We are extremely approachable and beginner friendly and with our beginner class we like to drill in and explain the basics, footwork, timing, basic steps and leads, the essential fundamentals and good grounding that anyone new to salsa (and those who have slipped into bad habits!) need to master.

At the moment our classes are not huge but continue to grow, although this works to the students advantage as we can give more individual attention (without singling anyone out!) to those aspects that any beginner is struggling with.

As for the ratio, as with most classes anywhere you go we do get more ladies than men, and we do rotate... but there is absolutely no requirement to be a ‘man’ in the class if the lady doesnt want to. Plus myself and Lisa sometimes join in the rotation if there is a severe man shortage.

To be honest Kiwi I suggest you come along to our class and see for yourself what you think. If our feedback, continually growing numbers and 100% return rate of students is anything to go by then you certainly will not be disappointed. :-)

Have been going to the beginners class now for a few weeks and enjoying it very much. The class size is averaging around 10. Making some good friends and hopefully my salsa is improving as well. Hywel

Cheers Hywel... you have improved absolutely leaps and bounds since you started with us as you well know!!! I’d love to put it all down to mine and Lisas superb teaching, smaller friendly classes and individual attention (without singling people out) that we are able to provide (plug plug!) but it’s of course the effort that you have also put in to it that has got you these results. Absolutely well done... we are proud of ya!!! :-)

Glad you are also benefiting from the social side of our salsa classes too... as you know it’s not just about the dance its also about having fun and making friends :-)
