Hya Steve!
I’m making it to Jongleyrs for the first time tonight, can’t wait!
I’ve got AA directions, but out of curiosity, is it near to Havana’s, or in the same area?

Hi Kate,

I’ve been a couple of times, since it’s moved to Jongleurs, the last time being when Andy was teaching there a couple of weeks ago. It’s probably best to park in same sort of area when it was at Fiesta Havana’s and it’s literally a few minutes walk away, down the steps into Baldwin Street, across the road and it’s near the junction with Telephone Avenue which should be on your map.

I’ll probable see you later in Tiger Tiger, before you go and I can show on my A to Z.

Jose

Hi
Could we improve the info available to people at the desk on entry? I note that the advert is for “members” to pay £6 but have never been offered membership just for £7.

Last nite was quite good - both upstairs and down but Nigel does tend to carry on the nite at a manic pace (last nite he decided to teach us all Merenge after the class) which is ok to raise the tempo but I find a bit bewildering. As an intermediate the gap between his second class and the third and fourt classes upstairs is a big one - mainly because he drills technique rather than teaching moves.
Anyway it was fine but slower tempo would help me relax a bit

Hi Jose,

As far as membership is concerned there should be no difficulty in gaining a membership card. There is always a poster next to the cashier’s desk that states all the prices and includes a price for members including those who travel! To get the members price naturally you need to be a member - you simply need to ask the cashier and she will hand you a form, which asks for certain information including [importantly] your post code. There is a charge currently £15 and usually a 2 week wait for the card; after that you’ll be able to gain entry [if you travel further than 30 miles] for £4 not £6 as you mentioned, a saving of £3 per week.

Membership is a good deal for people who attend reasonably regularly but especially if they travel!... The info is there I assure you...

As for Nigel’s manic pace, what can I say Nigel is Nigel … some people love that, but I appreciate it’s not always everyone’s preferred style! You might be pleased to know that we now alternate Nigel with Henry Viña who has a very different [more relaxed] style of teaching and might suit you more.

SalsaMania has always been about the Club aspect of Salsa more than the teaching [not that we aren’t proud of our teaching standards] but we do things with a certain kind of energy and sometimes it can take some getting used to… Some people simply don’t like the style, equally others love it, either way we believe we fill a gap in the market and are unique in many ways.

There are many compromises made when running a club night such as ours, this is because it is impossible to meet everyone’s expectations 100% but hopefully, overall you have had a good experience and we will see more of you in the future.

Hi Jose,

Forgot to mention that since we put out Feddback Forms in the Club [the past three weeks] a few people have agreed with your point that there is too great a gap between the Improver level and the Intermediate level...

This is the response we gave:-

We are working on narrowing the gap between the lower and higher levels, which will mean that the Improver level will become slightly more challenging and the intermediate level will become marginally, less so... This is in the interest of helping people move up from the lower levels and hopefully all would support this policy... Please be patient while we gradually adjust.

We will monitor this to make sure that the gap is reduced... You can read our Feedback Response letters at the club going back a few weeks or online covering last weeks Feedback...

Hope that helps
