As this is forum for debate, ( Have to say I do question this some times as Hugh often choose to stop quite a few threads of debate if he see them as being sensitive or being honest so lets see how long this one lasts before being censored).
Having been out in Cardiff dancing over the past few weeks the one question is their to many classes / Salsa night in and around Cardiff.
As all the nights are after the same crowd, who would rather have a busy night great music, a lovely mix of people to meet and dance with or a few people on a poor night of entertainment, there have been plenty of these recently.
Many of the evenings are very happy to take the money but offer very little back in return.
I know the club night is low cost but still the quality of the event/ venue should be good with the teaching of good standing.
And there are some that offer good value for money and a very good level of teaching; others should stick to the day job to be quite honest.
If some of the nights worked together and combined there skills and they worked at creating good night with a USP. Take a look at some things happening around the UK.
Other wise I do feel the Salsa scene will die as the users will get fed up of everything getting spread so thinly that the quality will just go and people will start looking for a better time … And will go else where.
I know these comments might not be liked by some and its just food for thought.
And before you say what do they know (me) about events and teaching, well it’s my day job and has been of 30 years
