Anyone know of classes for these

Joe

There are DVDs you can buy on the net. I haven’t come across any classes yet! Salsa brava & Alex DaSilva ones are pretty good if you got someone to practice with. Remember: Safety - of yourself and other people on the dance floor! One of my friends nearly had a cracked skull when this guy in Bristol tried to do this aerial dip without warning and dropped her.

You do occasionally see workshops advertised - keep an eye on the listings on www.salsajive.co.uk.

Most sane teachers don’t incorporate them into their normal classes for fear of encouraging people to injure their partners! I know Andy is planning a dips and tricks workshop as part of his forthcoming series - www.dancalatina.com.

Apart from that your best bet is to find a willing victim and book a private lesson (and don’t try any of what you learn on anyone without asking first - women can be easily be injured by these kinds of moves).

Last Thursday at Risa after the classes, Andy was practicing these moves with Kate and Lucy. Wow impressive stuff!

Andy’s running a lifts and dips workshop in July - think it’s the 29th. If you’re interested you and your partner need to contact him and he’ll tell you if he thinks it’s safe for you to join in. It’s not up on his website yet - best bet is to see him at Cuba, Risa or the Wharf.
