Calling all girls, where are you?

An increasing number of smaller classes I’ve have been to recently seem to end up with a surplus of guys and not enough girls to go round.

Take last night at Que Pasa for example. At Tammi’s improver/ intermediate class we ended up with five guys to one girl! Hopefully this was a one off.

Nevertheless, Tammi adapted the class to teach us an individual North American ‘shine’ routine.

Thanks for this Tammi, it was great fun!

Well well, so that’s where all the fellas are hiding?! I need men! (in my classes that is!) I have far too many women in my classes but it does mean that a lot of ladies are becoming very good at leading too!

Hi I also had three men to one woman on wed in La Tasca in my class.

Yes, the flip side of the lack of girls at some classes, is that twice now I’ve been the only guy to turn up at your class on Fridays Nathalie.

So come on all you guys out there give Nathalie’s classes a go! Nathalie packs a lot into the hour, and certainly gets you warmed up at the start including variations of all the basic steps with a few shines thrown in.

The advantage is, guys, that if you’re struggling with a particular move like I was last Friday, Nathalie can dance with you to put you back on track.

Seems like my call for extra girls / ladies was answered last night at Que Pasa. Some of you guys who came last week, but weren’t there this week unfortunately missed a trick or two!

Thanks Tammi, for that routine in the improvers which included the cross and reverse dip with a few shines for girls / ladies thrown in between. I first saw these moves about five weeks ago and was keen to give them a go in practice, but I couldn’t previously remember the hand positions at the start of the cross body lead to start off the moves. However having now seen them demoed again and practiced them plenty of times last night, these are another few moves that are now engrained in my memory. Although I realise I’ll have to give the reverse dip a miss if I’m dancing with a partner who hasn’t seen this demoed.
