If you just want to have fun the intermediate class will still be available - the advanced class, as Andy has pointed out, is for people who want to go further. I think it’s great that this option will be available.

(By the way, this isn’t the first time I’ve come across this - I’ve seen ‘dips and drops’ workshops advertised on the same basis for reasons of safety.)

“Restricting peoples’ human rights?” This is a dance class we’re talking about.

I can understand where Valley’s guy is coming from as I too feel it would be difficult to do the advanced class as I don’t have a regular partner and am not sure who I would do it with but I can see Andy’s perspective too.

The guy can’t win it seems!... he gets complaints that the standards are too low/ mixed up etc in the intermediate classes, so offers a solution and gets complained at because of that.

He is only one man after all and can only do so much... I don’t see any other teachers offering advanced classes.

Also, it is fun, we all have fun, but part of the fun is learning new and challenging moves. He’s keeping it as couples so people can still learn and enjoy themselves and they the level of their partner. I think its much harder for the man as he is always learning the leads which acquires a lot of skill, whereas for us girlies, the better we get, the better we follow etc and thus making it easier for the man.

Anyway, rant over!

I’ve been going to Andy’s classes for a little while now, and watching Andy and Lucy dance is fantastic. I agree that having a regular partner is a good idea, as long as you are lucky to get one of the good ones, and you all know who you are! I bet you can’t wait to be hounded down by the women who want to spend a whole lesson with you!

Now that we know Lisa hasn’t got a partner lined up for the advanced lessons we’d better form an orderly queue...

lisa

Ah bless ya Tom, that’s very flattering thank you!!

Salsero

I wonder what number I will get for that queue. 20? 30?

lisa

What do you mean salsero?

Salsero

I was saying that because you are a great dancer & I can see that there will be a long queue of guys waiting to dance with you!

Valleys Guy

Hi everybody I’m back! I’ve listened to all your comments as well as quite a few people who don’t anticipate in this forum.

Most of them agree that advanced salsa should be taught on a Couples Only policy.

But, as most of them have regular Partners (not necessary dance partners) they feel that by choosing a regular partner is most un- wise and could cause problems.

With this is mind (Speaking for myself) I would find it OK! If the rule stated that 'THERE WILL BE NO CHANGING OF PARTNERS IN THE ADVANCED CLASSES'
Find a partner before the class and stick together.
I.e. No partner no dance.

I and quite a few other people thought would be fair.

Mind you I live in hope that Lisa may be my partner, I’ve only once had the privilege of dancing with her.

She’s great!

Back to conversation!

Andy, it’s probably what you meant anyway.

Have a nice Launch.

lisa

Salsero, thank you very much for your kind comments but what I meant was why would you think you would be at 20 or 30??

Valley’s Guy, again, thank you very much for the very kind comments! I wouldn’t necessarily say I was a privilege to dance with but I’m very flattered!! I just have fun.

I’m afraid I’m not sure who you are going on this alone but next time you see me, ask me to dance! And you salsero!

I love dancing with anyone, anytime! But saying that, I know in the last few months I may have come across as being a bit snobbish? Some people think I will only dance with certain people.

Well, that is wrong!! Like I said, I love dancing and will dance with anyone! What I should perhaps explain is I have a very tempremental back, so on days when I’m feeling a bit fragile I do only dance with people I know and trust and therefore don’t risk hurting myself. But when I’m feeling fine, I’m anyones! In the dancing sense of course.!

I hope to see you all and dance with you all soon!
