I had a quick look into Que Pasa (formerly The Toad) this afternoon and it was a big disappointment. Fifty percent of the former dancefloor has been carpeted and the other 50% clogged up with big heavy wooden tables. It looks to me like it’s been pretty much ruined as a dance venue. What a shame.

Hi Folks,

This is an update on the reopening of the former Toad now known as Que Pasa.

The good news is that the venue has been completely remodeled and now looks fantastic inside. (I haven’t checked the toilets, but I’m assured they are a marked improvement!)

Unfortunately we have lost the dance floor end due to a raised area being built in it. So we are going to have to restructure the classes.

With regards to free dancing we still have the middle and end area which was hardly used before so it shouldn’t affect the free dancing too much.

Instead of 3 classes there will now be only 2 at the same time.

8:30 – 9:10pm Beginners 9:20 – 10pm Improvers 1
8:30 – 9:10pm Improvers 2 9:20 – 10pm Intermediates

The dance floor is open from 10pm-12:30am

We look forward to seeing you there and hope you enjoy the new venue.

Hey Andy,
Will Lambada resume on a Monday nights at Que Pasa or elsewhere?! Hope so! X

Lisa

I know it doesn’t take much but I’m a tad confused... obviously I get it about the floor space etc but its the lessons themselves.

So beginners won’t continue after the break and there is no intermediate until 9.20pm? Is that correct??

But improvers will run at the same times it always has? And I presume the teachers will be the same will they?

Sorry for the 20 questions but it all seems very different.

If intermediated doesnt start til 9.20pm surely there will be a load of people there before 8.30 pm expecting to start at 8.30pm??

Please may you clarify Andy? Thanks a million!

Lisa

Well as we only have 2 class areas I have tried to accomodate everybody as much as possible.

The Beginners class is shorter and so is the Intermediate. But hopefully the Improvers will pad the time out more. The classes are designed to move onto the next one. So Beginners will move onto Improvers 1 and Improvers 2 can move onto the Intermediates. Sorry if this is confusing.

At the moment we are having to play it by ear a little. We’ll know more after this Thursday night... :)

The teachers for this Thursday are Kate James and myself Andy Witt.

With regards to Lambada we don’t have any plans as we don’t have a venue available. But we are working on it!

Lisa

Thanks but there is still one thing bothering me... should it not be made apparent to those who may only want to come along for the intermediates that they don’t need to get there til gone 9pm if they don’t want to??

I know a lot of people rush to get there for the lesson at half eight so maybe it would be an idea to make it more clear?

Just a suggestion... I know it’s all gonna be very different and it will have to be played by ear :)

Andy Witt

Umm... The Intermediates class starts at 9:20pm!!! Yay!!!

But before that there’s an Improvers class that will ‘set the scene’ for the Intermediates. Same as we do at the Wharf on Sunday.

Lisa

Ok, well I guess all the regulars will show up tomorrow regardless and the it can be made apparent to them how the new system will work and they can decide for themselves if they wanna wait and come out later or not.

So, if people decide to do an improvers class and then the intermediate, will the price be the same? Surely as the lessons are shorter etc the pricing should be cheaper or the same principal as the wharf where its more to do 2 etc etc???

Man I bet u hate me right now!! :)

Lisa

I feel quite bad actually coz I’m not even gonna be there myself but people like to know don’t they?!

I like things to be clear... well actually, I like winding Andy up... :)
