Message 12 · 12 Jan 2006 08:05 GMT Great -- I hope you find dancing a good experience! I’d say that every single night in Cardiff has something going for it, you might want to try a few and see what suits you. I get out and about to most salsa nights in town on occasion -- sometimes to do a class, sometimes to dance, sometimes to just have a drink with my other half and chill and listen to the music -- but my “regular” class that I try not to miss is at the Wharf on a Sunday, it just suits me. If you give them all a whirl you should find one you enjoy and feel comfortable at. |

Message 13 · 12 Jan 2006 15:07 GMT Hi Beth, I also think The Toad would be a good place, its on a Thursday and the classes start at 8.30pm. The crowd is very friendly there and Nathalie also teaches there. I’ve never had a problem dancing with other females, in fact I often do if I’m being a leader etc or sometimes, just because tehre aren’t enough men to go round. I think you would have agreat time and I know most people certainly wouldn’t discriminate or judge... we’re all there to have fun at the end of the day! Hope to see u both at The Toad sometime. All the best Lisa |

Message 14 · 12 Jan 2006 16:16 GMT Nobody’s mentioned that the Welsh salsa champions are a female couple (Tammi and Abi). There are some very good female leaders in Cardiff, including Nathalie herself. |

Message 18 · 14 Jan 2006 09:35 GMT You don’t see any obviously gay male couples dancing together (I only know of one openly gay man on the Cardiff salsa scene) but men do sometimes dance together and it can be spectacular. It’s also instructive - following feels completely different to how you imagine if you’ve never done it. I gather it’s also useful for the leader: women will tend to be diplomatic/polite if there’s a problem with the lead while men will tell you exactly what’s wrong with it! |

Message 19 · 14 Jan 2006 09:42 GMT FAO beth - my apologies, on my reply to you, I didn’t put the title of my link in properly so it didn’t come up as a proper link - 2nd time lucky! Hope you and your girlfriend manage to find some classes you both like soon! “2006 dates for Nathalie’s Salsa Classes”. Take care Nathalie |
