Its coming close to that time of year again that I return home from the heathen English capital that is London to the bosom of my home town of Cardiff for the festive period, where I can chill with my Ma and Da, eat warm coal soup and mate with sheep... (Hey I’m Welsh so I’m allowed to say that!! )... question is... what are the Xmas and New Year plans for the regular weekly Cardiff Salsa venues?

Good question. I can’t get to all the venues so anyone who hears of any Christmas closure details or any special events, please post them here. Or, if you’re a promoter, please let us all know your plans.

La Tasca: classes now ended will be back 4 jan, begginers 8.00 - 9.00, improvers: 9.00 - 10.00. Thanks to all who have attended this year. Merry christmas to you all.

I know fiesta havanas is having their xmas party on Wednesday 21st december - sounds like it should be good if you don’t mind driving to bristol

On the subject of the festive season, where would you recommend going to dance over the next few weeks?

I’ve just had a bit of a dud night at The Toad. There was a bit of a pissed-up / ignorant crowd there, with a lot of the “usual suspects” absent, and I know we’re now going into the last week of the uni term so all the students will be out boozing in full force. What’s recommended? O’Neill’s?

O’Neill’s was fine on Monday (better than I was expecting). I’m sure the Wharf on Sunday will be fine as well. I usually find The Toad is OK if you stay late enough. I suspect the ‘usual suspects’ may just have been knackered after Pontins.
