Can anyone tell me if dancing at La Tasca is popular -

Its a long drive for me but thinking of going...

It is usually popular on a Saturday. Don’t bother to get there before eleven. It can be crowded and there may be quite a lot of non-salsa dancers there, but the music and atmosphere are usually great. Not a night for salsa purists, but good fun if you don’t mind sharing a dancefloor with muggles. Next weekend (3rd) most of the serious salsa dancers will probably be away at Brean Sands.

Hi greg,

It varies to be honest... Some nights it’s packed and u can hardly move let alone dance but the atmosphere is great and other nights it’s quiet but still a great atmosphere with the added plus of having space to dance!

I love the place and the atmosphere but generally go for the social side and not the dancing... It also has a far more Cuban feel... lots of cuban dancing. Music can vary but its generally very good! I think it’s hit and miss, u never can tell.

When were u planning on going? I’ll probably be going tomorrow night and I hope its a good night as I’ve not been out for ages!

It can also sometimes appear to be quite clicky but just jump straight in and ask the ladies. It’s not as clicky as it may seem.

Maybe cu there sometime.

I’m coming down to Cardiff from Leeds tommorrow ie. Saturday 25th March and was thinking of checking the salsa scene, Is La Tasca still current or has a new venue kicked off?

As far as I know there will be salsa at La Tasca on Saturday.

Nick

Is that the only place Saturday nights in Cardiff?

Yes, it is. Remember it doesn’t start until eleven.

Am coming to Cardiff on the 3rd March, is La Tasca still a good venue to go for a dance, can anyone recommend any good places to eat as well, coming up with a group of girlfriends???

La Tasca is still good on a Saturday night. Not sure where’s best to eat in Cardiff centre though - the Spanish food in La Tasca itself is OK but a bit overpriced. There are a couple of good Thai restaurants in the centre, though they aren’t cheap, and there’s also an Ask nearby - the Ask chain is usually reliable for Italian food. There’s also a Oportos, a Portuguese restaurant round the corner which isn’t bad.
