Are there any performance groups or couples in Wales? Are there people there who want to perform?

I can’t believe there’s no talent in Wales. As I have said I have an all girl team, we are On2 but I take dancers who are On anything who can dance and train them. I am always looking for new girls and have one girl who is soon to go to Sweeden another who is in Spain. The group has just been to Spain to perform at the International congress in her home town. I would very much like to find some talent in Wales and was very happy that a Welsh girl from Cardiff called the other day and will come next weekend to see if it will work out. I would love to find more talent in Wales. Is anyone out there doing anything to represent us?

Do u know what... there is hardly anyone representing us! Andy kind of does stuff, but not a lot. I bet there are loads of people who want to take their dancing further and perform etc but just don’t have the opportunity!

I for one would love to perform... it’s a huge dream of mine but again, in Wales, there just doesn’t seem to be the people or the opportunity. Like, for example, I know u can audition to perform at the Brit Salsa fest but no one seems interested in that.

I know of another lady who is an incredible dancer and fantastic teacher, I won’t mention her name on here in case she doesn’t want me to but I know she would love to perform and would be damn good too! And both of us, having a theatre/dance background, are always willing to learn new things and put in the hours!!

Hi girls and thanks for replying to me. I’m in NY at the moment training here with the best teachers in the world. It’s incredible the standard, and I am doing 3-4 hours of intensive advanced classes every day with the likes of Franklin Diaz, Frankie Martinez, Karisma and Eddie Torrez, and out social dancing with the likes of Juan Matos and Thomas Guero. Wow, NY is amazing.

Anyways that’s great to hear, I will be coming down for Xmas to see my family and would love to meet you guys. I really want to be able to do something for the Welsh and would be quite prepared to send the choreographies on video for you to learn under agreed terms so that’s you can perform with the rest of the team. So it would be good to meet with you so you can see if you like them and the style we dance etc and if you are up to it, which I have a feeling you are, smile. Thanks again for the response. I may yet organise a party and some workshops there for when I come down. It will just depend on if I have time as we have shows when I get back to London and also Birmingham and Bristol so I am busy but I would like to.

I have never liked auditions myself although I held them for my group. Quite a few of my members I took from my classes and taught from beginners. So maybe I will do a class and take from the class although I imagine it is not going to be a big class if I made it advanced on2 lol hmmm but I will figure something out.

I am intending to come back and stay in NY next year but will send choreographies back by video and come back every 3 months or so to perform with the team. I will also ask my ex dance partner to help me as he has a great eye for correction and team work is no walk in the park when it comes to being exact, it’s a lot of work. I’m glad to have your response and will be even happier to do something to put Wales on the map in salsa :o)

It would be a dream come true to perform and I would definitely love to meet you and talk more.

I have a confession to make... I don’t dance on 2 but I could learn... Like I said I would be more than willing to put in the hours.

Don’t worry about the timing it actually took me nearly 3 months to dance on 2 without the need to count or think about it but when it comes to choreography it is easier by far as you will hear which part of the music is being interpreted so no worries. I remember going to my first international salsa congress and taking a whole bunch of classes on2 without the faintest idea how to dance with the correct timing lol. Hugh it would be great o hav he girls details, I may be in Bristol on the 21st depending as alot of the team are leaving for xmas and as I’ve just gotten back to London I need to see if I have enough girls available to dance that night if so I will come straight after that to Cardiff and probably stay a week we’ll see can’t confirm yet :o)
