Message 101 · 21 Apr 2005 21:26 GMT Actually Hugh, it was one half of the current collection I use, maybe 100 Cds... You're looking at about £1500 worth (all originals) probably exchanged for a single fix. Let anyone post about Djs not using copies and I'll happily join that thread!!! Anyway it was the Latin Poppy side of my collection that was stolen, not the Salsa. What do you mean all my Salsa stuff is pop as well? BBrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (Joke) Anyway I have backups for most of what was taken but it's going to take along time to copy and replace all of them. Thanks for your concern though buddy. |

Message 102 · 21 Apr 2005 21:37 GMT I'm pleased to hear you've got backups, that's a vital step. I expect you'll be taking the copies out and leaving the originals at home in future. It's too risky to leave your investment exposed like that. |

Message 103 · 22 Apr 2005 10:58 GMT I know you’re a purist DJ DEVIL but have you thought of using LAPTOP technology with MP3s? Just bring your “lappy” along and plug it into your amp. Use a DJ mixing program like BPM et voila! No need for any CD’s then. |

Message 105 · 26 Apr 2005 13:56 GMT I am just a beginner of some 5 months experience, but already really like the challenge of learning and enjoying salsa in whatever style is taught - LA, NY, Cuban etc... I have followed the threads of Mr Chips' wild statements and feel that he has started a rather esoteric and probably stupid arguement. Mr Chips comes over as a rather grumpy and possibly arrogant individual, who really should know better than to insult a vibrant city like Cardiff and the lovely Welsh people. Mr Chips should also learn to spell, as this would help to support any arguement that he is an educated person worth listening to. It wouldn't surprise me if Mr Chips comes from the north of England (a southerner to me) and if he is a man, should have the courage of his convictions to state who he is and not hide behind an alias. By the way, I have just had a most enjoyable weekend in the company of the World Salsa and Tango champions who were incredibly skillful, amazing, curteous, charming and helpful and showed me many brilliant and simple moves, which I hope to use in the future. Mr Chips, I shall venture on to the dancefloor regardless of ability and try to improve, whereas you should crawl back into the swamp from which you came. |

Message 106 · 26 Apr 2005 14:04 GMT Hello “Juan the Frog”. Where have you come from then? 106 posts in and then you join our little debate. You’re very welcome, of course, but when you slag off Mr Chips’ spelling you might want to remember to run your own text through the spell check... “curteous” is not how you spell “COURTEOUS”. Kinda shot yourself in the foot there haven’t you bud!?! :-p See you around! |

Message 107 · 26 Apr 2005 14:09 GMT I would just like to point out that Juan the Frog's opinions of the arrogance and spelling ability of notherners are his own and do not reflect the official position of the Salsa City forum. Also, using an alias is perfectly all right, but well done for using your real name, Juan the Frog. |

Message 108 · 26 Apr 2005 21:12 GMT Hey, he *could* be called Juan. I'm going by my given name here and I bet people think I'm putting it on to sound latin! That said, Mr the Frog, I'm sure you'd like to repeat your comments in front of my relatives from the North of England. You'd be surprised how polite and reasonable they can be, even in the face of gross provocation. |

Message 109 · 27 Apr 2005 14:07 GMT Well well well! I've been away for a few days and look what I've missed! I doubt so very much that this is our friend - Juan's first post - but what does that matter! Juan - I love your alias, but must disagree with your condemnation of Northerners. I have several Northern friends who are all warm-hearted, generous and loads of fun (most of the time!). In fact I often regard Northerner's, along with the Irish, as being the most similar in charcter to us Welsh! What greater compliment could there be!!? P.S. Hugh, why isn't there a spell check facility on these pages? |

Message 110 · 27 Apr 2005 14:39 GMT Not sure what you're getting at Welsh Lass. Juan the Frog is not MrChips, if that's what you mean. People shouldn't worry about other peoples aliases, just respond to them (or not) at face value. Let me take care of any possible troublemakers. Spell checking is best done on your own computer; you can type your message into your usual text-editor, spell-check it, then copy-and-paste it into the forum message window. Having said that, if you are using the Firefox browser you can install SpellBound spell-checker and if you are using the Opera browser you can install Aspell spell-checker. Here is an online spell-checker too if anyone wants to try it out. Remember, registered members get the opportunity to edit their posts so they are able to alter them if they have second thoughts and can correct any errors. I wish more regular users would register. |
