Went to the Charanga del Norte gig at Fiddlers in Bristol on Friday. The sound was pretty poor. Very couply so I was glad I'd brought a carful of women with me! And very crowded. I usually hate crowded dance floors in Cardiff because there are so many flailing feet and people taking up huge amounts of space and not watching what's going on around them (Bar Med is particularly bad for this). What struck me on Friday was that it was actually a pleasure to dance because pretty much everybody was dancing in a controlled way and respecting other peoples dance space. Made a nice change.

Dancefloor etiquette is hardly ever mentioned in classes. It would be great if teachers would keep an eye open for those who are dancing in an annoying or dangerous way (heaven knows, they're not hard to spot) and gently ask them to calm down. But I've never seen it happen, and nobody else can do it.
