I do agree with you Wizzy
It would be nice if 'New Promoters' would,
1. Find different venues.
2. At least try to bring new people (by providing teaching etc).
and advertising rather than poaching.
3. Try also to promote their stuff on a different night.
But after saying that... Salsa promotion is a business like any
other - the strong survive and the weak go to the wall.
It sounds like a contradiction I know, but it's just a way of saying support those people who run quality nights and in a way that's suits your own ethics.
John is strong enough to survive any challenges - he has been the most consistent of all the promoters in Cardiff thus far after all.
By the way to clear up your misconception... And offer a little bit of information regarding the history...
The first person to bring Salsa to Cardiff was a guy
called Misha (I think that was his name) from London.
It was about 10 Yrs ago and didn't last long.
Then I started the first regular / consistent night at the Toucan Club.
Naturally I fell out with the management (I usually do)
and John Pamplin working for Sally Beard the original
owner of SalsaMania took over.
Confused? If not, you're probably a genius!!
