Message 1 · 31 Oct 2004 23:31 GMT Hi everyone. I'm hoping to get back into salsa after a 4 year break. As I still remember the majority of the basic steps and I am a very fast learner, I was wondering if anyone knows of a class that starts on the basics and progresses quickly? I want to advance as quickly as I can and felt as though I was being held back in my last class. Hope to hear from you soon Kyleigh |

Edited by: Hugh Message 2 · 1 Nov 2004 10:30 GMT Hi Kyleigh It's possible to get something out of all the classes currently being held in Cardiff but the real secret to progressing fast is to stay after the class for the free dancing and dance as much as you can with different partners. |

Message 3 · 3 Nov 2004 15:50 GMT Go to the TOAD on Thursday. That is the best class taught by the most experienced teacher. Simple as that |

Message 6 · 4 Nov 2004 16:37 GMT Most of the male dancers are the same in both places, the music is better in the Toad. It's important to get the basics right first and then lots of dancing with as many different partners as you can,and the best place to do that is O'Neill's... |

Message 7 · 5 Nov 2004 12:07 GMT Fewer people go to O'Neill's though - therefore there is a better selection of "beefcake" and honey at the TOAD. OK - O'Neill's might be better... IF YOU'RE OLD! But it's no good for young, funky, hip, happening and "schway" dancers. |

Message 8 · 5 Nov 2004 17:55 GMT I see where you are coming from WIZZY... Most dancers are out just to dance. I just want to dance with a girl who can do the basics and follow my lead. I don't care how old or young she mite be. |

Message 9 · 6 Nov 2004 18:55 GMT Sue-g, I'm quite new to salsa and find it useful to watch others dance, particularly the advanced levels. There's nothing strange about that. I find your remarks quite offensive. Rob. |

Message 10 · 7 Nov 2004 13:46 GMT Toad is a little too small for my liking, but it's a nice place. The Monday class I think is a bit more demanding and I think the environment is a bit better to learn in. You don't have random people in the middle of the class (who aren't dancing) trying to get across the middle of the room and spilling bear in the process. O'Neill's is isolated from the rest of the pub. Some nice people in the Toad tho. Maybe I should have kept in touch with a few of the people. I've stopped doing salsa now, never really got into it. |
