Just a reminder that tickets are still available for Sierra Maestra, the famous son band from Cuba, in St David's Hall next Monday, 19th July. It should be a good night, seeing them in a nice big theatre. I think there's going to be some dancing space.

Sierra Maestra were a lot of fun, offering a crash course in traditional Cuban rhythms. They played for about 90 minutes, not including the interval. St David's hall is a nice place to see a band like this, the sound was excellent, if a little loud in the second half, and, as the stage is collapsible, there's room for a big dancing area with a nice wooden floor. The hall was not full, with space available even in the areas of the stalls and balcony that were open, but all there seemed to enjoy the performance.
