Hi Alison and Kylie,
To be fair to Andy, he did make announcements the week before about the classes coming to an end at The Purple Lounge because of the change of management, as well as on the Thursday at Jumpin Jaks the week it finished. He also announced the new Fahrenheit Sunday classes the following Thursday.
The thing is if you’re not die-hard regulars you will have obviously missed these announcements. As Tom suggests it’s probably best that you are on Andy’s email list, that way you can be sure that the info he gives out is always up to date.
Although this independent website is useful, it can sometimes be a few weeks before information filters through about any changes.
Salsa teachers across the country have a constant battle to maintain a good working relationship with the management of the venues. This mainly boils down to the punters buying enough drinks etc to ensure an equilibrium is maintained with regards to the finances for both the salsa teachers and the management of the venues.
Just as a general point, I occasionally travel to other towns and cities for Salsa and tend to find that some websites can be out of date, so it’s advisable to either be on an email list or ring up the venue or teacher beforehand if you’re not a regular.
I would suggest that you don’t need to do this every week, but if you’ve missed a few weeks it’s always worth checking beforehand if you’re travelling any significant distance.
Hope this helps.
