Message 1 · 19 Sep 2008 16:40 GMT I’ve just started at Cardiff Uni and I’ve been salsaing for a couple years, everyone I’ve spoken to has told me that Cardiff has a good salsa scene but I don’t know anyone or where to start :( The lack of a car is a bit of a hindrance but the town centre etc is all within walking distance Any advice would be much appreciated |

Message 3 · 19 Sep 2008 18:50 GMT If you like Cuban go to O’Neill’s on Monday or Barocco on Tuesday. If you like LA go to Bar Risa on Thursday (next to Millennium Stadium, biggest and best night in Cardiff). If you just want to dance (either style) go to La Tasca after 11 on Saturday. |

Message 4 · 19 Sep 2008 19:41 GMT Should have mentioned that while the teaching in O’Neill’s is Cuban the dancing is a mix of styles, and while the teaching and most of the dancers in Risa are LA-style the music includes a fair bit of Cuban. |

Message 5 · 25 Sep 2008 01:52 GMT Hey, Hugh, I seriously didn’t mean to ask a rhetorical question or seem like a dick, I just genuinely wanted some advice on salsa for students in Cardiff. I didn’t know if there were any places that catered for students or if there was any one particular place that students went or anything so and I was just looking for someone to point me in the right direction but I must say that sarcasm isn’t the most welcoming thing in the world. |

Message 6 · 25 Sep 2008 09:21 GMT Don’t worry, the salsa scene in Cardiff is friendly. It might have been clearer if you’d mentioned that you were looking for venues that specifically cater to students. I think Tuesday and Thursday probably have the highest proportion of students. |
