Message 21 · 11 Oct 2007 17:15 GMT Hi Catherine, Like you I was gutted when Gorka had to bring his classes at Mambo to an end. I had been going over to Swansea on Fridays quite regularly since April and really enjoyed the nights over there. You’ve probably read my report on message 8, about the possibility of a Latin dancing night starting at La Tasca in Swansea for Friday nights. I’ve just got off the phone from speaking to the manager at La Tasca in Swansea, and he has told me that they are launching a trial night of Latin/Salsa dancing tomorrow night from 9:30 to 1:00. The night will be similar in format to a Saturday night at La Tasca in Cardiff, i.e. No classes just freestyle dancing. The manager at La Tasca also told me that they have brought in a top Latin DJ from London, specifically for the launch night. If successful they will hope to make it a regular event. Bearing in mind the short notice, I will do my best to promote this event between now and tomorrow to ensure plenty of people that turn up. Have fun at the weekend and I may bump into you for a dance in La Tasca at either Swansea or Cardiff. |

Message 22 · 27 Nov 2007 19:19 GMT Hi All My fiance and I are thinking of going to Charlottes class in Monkey on a Tuesday. Is it OK for absolute beginners (well almost we have had one lesson else where)? And could we go any week or is there a set course? Any help, experiences would be appreciated? Ta |

Message 23 · 28 Nov 2007 13:22 GMT Hi Carl G, I was on my way to Monkey Bar last night, when a friend rang to tell me it had been cancelled for last night. Rather frustrating as I had specially arranged to come over to Swansea last night. In answer to your question Carl, beginners classes always start from scratch with the basic steps. Missing the odd week doesn’t matter either as most classes are run on a drop in basis, and are not a set course. I haven’t actually ever been to Charlottle’s classes in the Monkey Bar, but I believe they are run in the same format as her classes at O’Neill’s in Cardiff on a Monday night. Which is three levels of classes over two hours, beginners, improvers and intermediate, 40 mins each class. Hope this helps, good luck have fun! |

Message 24 · 30 Nov 2007 21:19 GMT Hi all I am desperate to get back into salsa dancing but really don’t want to have to drive all the way to Cdiff. Anything in swansea? Am I right in thinking Monkey Bar is the only venue? Oh yeah almost forgotten would be going on my own (no one to dance with) is that a pb? Thanks. Sev |

Message 25 · 30 Nov 2007 21:42 GMT Yes Sev there is a night in the Monkey Bar, but also my wife Alex and I hav started a class in Que Pasa, in wind street on a Tuesday. Unfortunatly it was the only day they could do it. It starts at 7:45pm and is £3 for the night That includes 2 classes, and 1 free tatser class at 10:30, which shows you different dances you could learn. Oh and about going on your own, there is no problem with that no matter where you go. You will have loads of ladies to dance with anyways, every where is allways looking for men! :) Hope that helps |

Message 29 · 7 Dec 2007 11:34 GMT I have seen Charlotte’s lessons in the Swansea Monkey Bar for the very first time. She is not only a good (and pretty!) dancer but a good TEACHER too. Very good that everybody change the partners always after some minutes. Unfortunately, some of the beginners danced the highest level too. That was not fair - they ignored Charlotte’s comments. Next Tuesday I will join the lessons too. |
