On a few occasions I have been to O’Neill’s, when someone has had a birthday John asks a line up of partners to dance with the person whose birthday it is, for approximately 20 to 30 seconds before moving on to the next partner.
Knowing this I had planned to keep the fact it was my birthday quiet, as I don’t like to be the centre of attention. However, tell just few people and word soon gets out.
Having had a few good dances to start off the evening, everything was going to plan, until Patricia, one of my regular dance partners turned up and blurted out Happy Birthday within earshot of Phil. As soon as Phil heard it was my birthday, all attempts to stop him from telling John to arrange a line up partners to dance with, were in vain.
It seemed that my options were limited, do I run out through the door, or give it a go! When John made the announcement, I was dancing with Patricia who kindly started me off. It was rather nerve racking knowing that everyone was watching me, however once I settled into it and apart from a few adjustments to keep me on time when I changed partners things seemed to go okay.
This is something I don’t think I could have done, even as recently as month ago. However on refection later I did quite enjoy it and would like to thank everyone who danced with me on Monday night including those of you who weren’t in the line up. Thanks also to Phil and John for arranging things.
Finally, thank you Patricia for being my Salseragram!
