Hola

I just started to study few weeks ago on the UWIC. I dance salsa since two years and I really love it and I miss it so much, because the last time I danced was in Germany before I moved here to Cardiff.
None of my friends dances salsa that’s why I am looking for
Somebody. I would like to get to know some people or girls in salsa scene, maybe you can show me here the salsa world. I would be really happy.

Hope to hear from you soon

Hast luego

Hola Sandra

I’d suggest that you just turn up to any of the salsa nights - they’re pretty friendly.

Que le vaya bien

Hi Sandra

There are quite a few around. For someone who’s new to Cardiff and going on your own, the best bet is probably the biggest night, Bar Risa, next to the Millennium Stadium, on Thursday night. Classes start just after 8pm and free dancing goes from around 10-12. It’s good fun, though it can get very hot.

If you’re going with a friend La Tasca in the Brewery Quarter off St Mary Street on a Saturday night (11-2) usually has a good party atmosphere with a mix of dancers and non-dancers.

Hello

I’m thinking of giving salsa a go for about a year now but keep putting it off as I am quite shy and would be a complete beginner. How physically fit do you need to be... I’m not petite :-(

Hi D,

To be honest with you, it doesn’t matter what size you are to dance... its about having fun. There are many dancers of all shapes and sizes.

Dancing is physical but as with any form of excerise you can take it at your own pace. Salsa can be very energetic if you want it to be but when you’re learning it doesnt have to be.

Beginners classes are great fun and go at a nice pace. I would certainly recommend going along to a class and giving it a go. You can decide then if you like it and want to continue with it.
