Can anyone give me a quick run down on what it's all about? |

It's a dance in which men 'lead' women - something which takes a long time to learn to do well unless you're a natural.
Once you've learnt to dance the basic steps in time to the music and you've learnt to lead a couple of basic turns, you can ask a woman for a dance. It took me months to build up the confidence to do this! Usually you'd just dance the one dance with her before moving on - don't push it.
Don't be surprised if it takes a long time to get good at it - it took me weeks to get the basic steps right, and probably a year to develop a reasonable lead, though some people learn a lot quicker than this. In general women on the Cardiff salsa scene are friendly and tolerant, so as long as you have a reasonable attitude you'll be welcomed. |
