fool

Hi everyone,

I always wanted a definitive answer to a question. Maybe one of the perpetrators will give it maybe someone else has an opinion.
Sometimes, and I say sometimes because I’m not trying to be arrogant or anything. Sometimes, while dancing with a lady - or more accurately standing holding hands with a lady in a class, under instruction, I have found the lady gently stroking my fingers with her thumb!

Now is this just an unconscious habit?
Are these ladies really flirting with me?
Are they just friendly?

Any ideas?

I wouldn’t over-think it. I’ve caught myself doing that to guys once or twice, without any conscious intent. Some of us are just tactile. Unless it makes you uncomfortable, in which case please say so.

Besides, what’s wrong with flirting? I’m a happily married woman and not in any way, shape or form out to “cop off” or anything but I still flirt, hopefully in an appropriate manner. I sort of suspect that if you want to avoid flirtation, you should take up a dance that doesn’t involve contact with another person. Line dancing maybe, or the hokey cokey ;-)

Get your coat ‘fool’, you’ve pulled ; )

Or maybe not. I don’t think he’s trying to avoid flirtation - he just wants to know the score.

I think it’s probably an unconscious habit, but you never know. As Elena suggests, you probably shouldn’t read too much into some of the ways women behave on the dancefloor. Women dancers sometimes act in ways that a man would legitimately interpret as a serious come-on in any other context, but on the dancefloor it just means that she trusts you and she’s totally absorbed in her dancing.

the fool again

Thanks,
Those are both enlightening and indeed worry lightening responses...
I’m not out to aviod flirtation, its just that women are so bizarre creatures anyway that we men may never understand, at least I can try to understand where a women dancing might be.
I completely miss most come ons anyway - or so I’m told hours or weeks afterwards!
But dancing is fun

WIZZY

Shame she’s only stroking your fingers!!! :-)

Tich

I’m sure it’s more that you would get Wizzy!! ;-)

I have the answer. It’s just a nervous habit, as I realised when someone did it to me the other day. This particular woman was out of her depth in the class. She certainly wasn’t flirting and was probably unaware that she was doing it.

God, I hope it wasn’t me!

No, it wasn’t.

Squeezing hands, stroking fingers, all of it subconscious... At least, I think so...
