Message 21 · 23 May 2005 06:46 GMT Basically Andy teaches ‘cross-body lead’ style which is also sometimes called LA-style or New York style. This is the most common style in the UK. Pure LA style and pure Cuban style are very different, but what John teaches isn’t pure Cuban - you won’t find it difficult to adapt. Andy is particularly good at practical detail and I would strongly suggest that you should try his classes. BTW ‘Enchufla’ (Literally “plug her in!”) doesn’t just mean ladies’ turn: it’s a specific move - lady’s anticlockwise turn followed by man’s anticlockwise turn with the woman’s hand on the man’s waist. |

Message 22 · 23 May 2005 11:13 GMT They're right... I think it's good to go to different lessons, all Cuban is is dancing in circles as opposed to on a straight line and to be honest it's good to know both as when u dance freestyle, u never know what style the guy is gonna dance, a lot of them incorporate both styles... Go for it and Sundays are a great laugh albeit very busy! |

Message 24 · 23 May 2005 20:02 GMT It's a bit of a journey for some of you I know but, for those of you who want to learn some cuban style Salsa we have OSBANIS at Fiesta Havana in Bristol this Wednesday. OSBANIS is currently the talk of London as far as teaching Cuban Salsa is concerned... You can checkout our website for times etc. At www.SalsaMania.biz |

Message 25 · 24 May 2005 07:27 GMT Lynda, it's fine to just sit and watch on Sunday, and there's plenty of seats near the dancefloor. |

Message 26 · 24 May 2005 08:20 GMT I would echo what Tom says. However, why not get on up and give it a go? You'll find nothing in the beginners' class that you can't handle. |

Message 27 · 24 May 2005 11:15 GMT Absolutely, u can just sit and watch but to be honest, it's such a great atmosphere u prob wont be able to sit still for long! But if u feel more comfortable, just watch and join in the freestyle dancing after the lessons, there's such a mix of levels so u should be absolutely fine! It's only £4 and u can do the improvers calss to if ur feeling brave enough... Bargain! |
