Anyone here been injured by that character from Bristol or Bath who was in the Toad on Thursday showing off his dips?

It’s fine doing deep dips with women who you know are happy with them, but he does it with people the first time he dances with them - without warning. He hurt my partner’s back, and I’ve seen him in Bristol doing some ridiculous things which look as if they’re almost calculated to cause injury.

It would be nice if promoters looked out for unsafe dancers and asked them to calm down. But as that never happens it’s up to women to take care of themselves. Women, if you feel your partner is putting you in danger with wild and inconsiderate dancing, DO NOT CONTINUE. There is no law that says you have to finish a dance with someone who is making you feel unsafe. Just say you’re too tired or thirsty or something and get off the dancefloor.

Absolutely right - unfortunately on this occasion she didn’t realise what an idiot he was until the damage had been done. He then had the effrontery to tell her that she had done the dip wrong.

(It’s always a good idea to watch how someone dances with other people before accepting a dance from them. Try looking at their feet to see whether they’re really on the beat: most rough dancers have a dodgy sense of rhythm.)

I heard about this, and I think that Paul had a bit of a ‘go’ at him in his class, if he shows his face in any venue that I am at please point him out to me(I have a bad memory...) and I’ll happily have a word in his ear...

With regards to dips nobody should attempt them without giving their partner due warning, just because you may have tried it on them before doesn’t give anyone the right to do it again without ensuring that they have no injuries or objections. Dancing should be enjoyable dips are rarely fun unless done with the full spirit of both partners.

Hello room.

I can only emphasise Andy’s comments and yes I do know about this nut case. I saw him “dip” Lucy once and it made me physically wince! It was BAD and could have dislocated both her shoulders - no exaggeration.

He started appearing at the Toad four weeks ago in one of my classes - some of you may recall I suddenly had a rant about “unsafe dipping and stupid moves” - that was all aimed at HIM and speaking to the group was my attempt to be subtle (something I’m not very good at doing)

If I see him this Thursday (now I’m back from my fantastic hot and sunny holiday tee hee) - I’ll be as subtle as a kick in the jacobs!

No - I’ll be serious now - he will be spoken to by either Andy or myself and asked to calm down.

Amused to discover that Diphead is known in Bristol as Doctor Death - apparently he really is a doctor (so he ought to know better, unless he’s trying to drum up custom).
