Message 21 · 27 May 2004 07:09 GMT Hello I'm Rhian, and I was just wondering what sort of age groups attend the different classes. I have done quite a bit of dancing previsouly, but I have never tried salsa and I'm desperate to! I'm only 17 and wondered what kind of ages attend. To be honest I'm not particulary bothered as all I want to do is dance but if anyone has got any tips for the best places I'd be very grateful! Thanks |

Message 22 · 27 May 2004 07:26 GMT Hi Rian Most of the Cardiff salsa classes are held in pubs so almost everyone is over eighteen but I've never heard of anyone's age being checked so don't worry about that, just go along. Most places have a wide spread of agegroups so that shouldn't be a problem. My favourite place is The Toad on Thursdays in the Old Library on Trinity Street. It's well organised with teachers for all levels. Hope you try some salsa and hope you have fun. |

Message 24 · 17 Jun 2004 03:28 GMT It doesn't really matter Rhian as people that go to Salsa nights range from quite scruffy to quite smart. Just wear normal going out clothes and you'll be fine! |

Message 25 · 17 Jun 2004 03:34 GMT Footwear IS very important though. Don't wear trainers as you won't be able to do any sort of spinning. (unless they're specialist dance trainers like FREED / BLOCH / CAPEZIO) Ideally, wear confortable footwear with a smooth sole, and if you're really taking it seriously - something with a heel helps. (although you know as a dancer you should always dance on your "balls" (there's a good trick for the blokes!!!) |
