Message 1 · 12 Feb 2004 11:36 GMT Has anyone else noticed that half the decent women dancers in Cardiff seem to be learning to lead? Hope this doesn't mean that us men are going to become superfluous! |

Message 2 · 13 Feb 2004 03:43 GMT I don't think we will! I'm fully in favour of women learning to lead. I think it's normal, when one reaches a certain level, to take an interest in the role of the "other side". Personally, I make sure I know exactly what the woman's steps are before I attempt to lead a move or sequence "in the wild". |

Message 4 · 13 Feb 2004 07:03 GMT I wasn't actually serious, and I quite agree with you. The first time I tried following an expert leader it was a revelation - I realised how little the follower has to do if the leader is good enough. |

Message 5 · 13 Feb 2004 07:38 GMT Hmm... That might not be a wise choice of words. Although, of course, it will be easier for a woman if her partner knows what he's doing. I think followers have just as much scope for self expression as leaders, it's just that, as they don't have to make so many moment-to-moment decisions, it's a different kind of self expression. |
