Unintended

I used to teach ballet and tap but since moving out of home and moving to wales, I have not been doing the same sort of exercise and piled on the pounds. I really want to try something new and this sounds fun. I’m thinking of attending O’Neill’s beginners tomorrow but I read you need a certain level of fitness. I’m not obese or anything but just wanted to know if its worth me turning up, I’m really worried about being ashamed when I get there, can’t do gyms as all the skinny pretty ladies.

Good Heavens! Don’t wallow in self pity, Unintended. It’s true, you can enjoy salsa more if you are fit, but it’s a great way to build your fitness and the beginners’ classes are fairly gentle.

I wouldn’t worry about your size. I’m what you would term a ‘larger’ lady but it isn’t a problem at all. Both in O’Neill’s and in Risa I have felt completely comfortable - which was a bit of a surprise.

There is a range of sizes and shapes at all the classes. If you want some ‘moral support’ so to speak let me know when you are going and I’ll try and get there to make you feel more comfortable
